Internship with National Security Archive

Posted by Silvia Tandeciarz in

In the Spring of 2009, 10 Hispanic Studies, History, and Latin American Studies students collaborated with Carlos Osorio, Southern Cone Specialist at the National Security Archive, in the creation of a Briefing Book commemorating 30 years since the release of Jacobo Timerman from his detention by the Argentine military Junta. David Culver created a short documentary chronicling our experience. The final Briefing Book is viewable on the National Security Archive website and the Charles Center Website (Southern Cone Project).

The collaboration has continued through this year under Prof. Konefal’s supervision. This summer, once again a group of 8 interns will be hosted by the National Security Archive. They will be working with Carlos Osorio and Miliette Marcos to research declassified documents related to the disappearance of Argentine nationals during the late seventies and early eighties as part of Operation Condor.
